چکیده

The Engineering Education Research (EER) Peer Review Training (PERT) project aimed to develop EER scholars’ peer review skills through mentored experiences reviewing journal manuscripts. Concurrently, the explored how scholars capabilities for evaluating and conducting scholarship reviewing. PERT used a mentoring structure in which two researchers with little experience were paired an experienced mentor complete three manuscript reviews collaboratively. Using variety of techniques including think aloud protocols, structured reviews, exit surveys, research team addressed following questions: (1) To what extent are ways reviewers evaluate manuscripts influenced by reviewers’ varied levels expertise? (2) does participation reviewer programme influence evaluations? Data collected from cohorts over 18 months. Findings indicate that evaluation at start programme, can improve understanding disciplinary conventions their connection community. Deeper epistemological basis may reveal strengthen professional preparation engineering education as well other disciplines.
